Knowing this why did Lara go to work for or with him. She obviously was looking for betrayal, witness how quickly she escaped, would presume she knows these mutts are at her six and will act accordingly. Is she planning on sabotaging the opponents transportation.

She only joined him in the hunt because of the game (Last Panel).

The only betrayal she was expecting from him would be something like stealing a relic from her in a race by cheating.

Lara in this arc is her early stage: making mistakes, learning and growing up.

Let's see what she will do next. :)
